Video landing page

What is a video landing page: the term explained

A video landing page is a single web page built around one video, branded to the sender and carrying the actions the viewer is meant to take next, such as booking, approving, paying or replying. The video is the page, rather than one element inside a longer one.

Guided video capture

Send a link. Get the evidence you need.

Venta Capture, a product of VentaVid, guides the person who is already there through capturing exactly the photos and video your process needs.

The practical reason it exists is that a video file on its own is a dead end. It plays, it finishes, and then the viewer has to go and find some other way to respond.

What sits on the page besides the video

  • The player, sized for a phone. Most of these pages are opened on a mobile, from a text message, within minutes of being sent.
  • Sender identity. The company logo and colours, and usually the name and face of the person who recorded it. This is what separates it from an anonymous link.
  • Action buttons. Book an appointment, approve the work, pay, reply, request a call.
  • Supporting detail. A quote, a line item list, an attachment, a written summary for anyone who would rather read than watch.
  • Tracking. The sender knows when it was opened and how much was watched.

How a video landing page differs from an attached file or a public video link

Three differences do most of the work.

An attachment has to be downloaded, frequently gets blocked or compressed by email systems, and tells the sender nothing about whether it was ever watched. A public video hosting link plays fine, but it arrives wearing someone else's branding, it may suggest unrelated videos afterwards, and it has nowhere to put a "yes, do the work" button.

A video landing page keeps the message, the sender's identity and the decision in the same place. That last point is the one that matters commercially. Every extra step between watching and responding costs responses.

Video landing page example: an approval on the service drive

A technician films 40 seconds under a car: the worn pad, a shot of the measurement, and a plain sentence about what happens if it waits. The advisor sends the link by SMS.

The customer opens it on a break, watches the pad, and taps approve on the same page. No callback, no voicemail, no phone tag, and the bay is not blocked waiting for a decision.

Where video landing pages are used

They come from automotive retail, where the format is now routine on both sides of the dealership. Sales teams use them for personalised vehicle walkarounds and lead follow up. Service and aftersales teams use them for video health checks and to explain recommended work that a customer would otherwise decline over the phone.

The same pattern travels to any considered purchase where showing beats telling: marine and yachting, equipment, property, high value retail, and field service handovers.

What the numbers say

VentaVid, the personalised video platform built around this format for sales and service teams, reports a 300 percent or greater increase in click-through rate on video emails compared with plain email, an 81 percent response rate to video messages, and 85 percent of service videos viewed within 15 minutes of being sent. That last figure is the interesting one for anyone running a workshop. The bottleneck it removes is not attention, it is the wait for a decision.

Length matters more than production quality. Wistia's State of Video report, drawn from over 13 million videos and 79 million hours of viewing data, is blunt about it: the shorter the video, the higher the engagement rate. A 40 second walkaround outperforms a polished three minute one, which is convenient, because nobody on a service drive has three minutes.

What a video landing page is not

  • Not a marketing landing page with a hero video. That page is built for a campaign and sees thousands of visitors. A video landing page is usually built for one named recipient.
  • Not a video call. Nothing is scheduled. It is asynchronous communication by design.
  • Not the same as collecting video. A video landing page sends video to the customer. Guided capture runs in the opposite direction: the customer records and submits evidence to the business. Different problem, different tooling, frequently confused.

The interactive elements on the page are what turn it from a message into a decision point. That side of it is covered under interactive video.
