7 Bdeo alternatives for motor and property claims (2026)

Bdeo alternatives banner: which capture model, not which vendor, for claims teams

In this article

The short version for claims teams.

  • Pick: Venta Capture if you want the claimant to record guided video and photos on their own phone, with no app, no appointment and no employee on the line, and you want the submission to arrive sealed and reviewable in one inbox.
  • The honest split: Bdeo, Tractable and MotionsCloud are built around an AI repair-cost estimate. If that number is the job, they are the right shelf. If the job is getting trustworthy evidence in the first place, the shelf is different.
  • Who this is for: claims managers and claims-operations leads at insurers and TPAs of any size, plus fleet, rental and property teams who still collect damage photos over WhatsApp.

Most searches for "Bdeo alternatives" are not about Bdeo. They come from a claims manager who has seen a demo of visual intelligence for motor claims, liked the idea of the policyholder photographing the car, and then hit one of two walls: the price of an enterprise AI contract, or the realisation that the pretty repair estimate still depends on four blurry photos taken in a dark car park.

So the useful question is not "which vendor is like Bdeo". It is "which model of collecting evidence do we want": a live video call with an adjuster, an app for our own inspectors, a link the claimant opens in their browser, or an AI that scores whatever photos turn up. Every vendor below fits one or two of those models, and each one is described only in the words its own website uses.

If you run claims operations and your handlers still ask for photos by email and hope for the best, book a 15-minute Venta Capture demo and we will walk one of your real claim types through a guided flow on the call.

The four models behind every "Bdeo alternative"

Every tool in this space answers the same question: the person who has to decide is not standing next to the damage. What differs is who holds the camera, whether anyone from your team has to be online at that moment, and what arrives at the end.

  • Live remote support: an adjuster joins the policyholder on a video call, sees the damage through their phone, annotates, and decides. Solves travel. Does not solve scheduling.
  • Inspector app: your own field staff or a partner network carry an app with checklists and offline mode. Solves consistency. Does not use the person who is already at the loss site.
  • Link-based self-serve capture: the claimant gets a secure link, opens it in the browser, follows guided steps, and the submission lands with your team whenever they finish. Solves both travel and scheduling. Quality depends entirely on how good the guidance is.
  • AI damage estimation: photos (however collected) go into a computer-vision engine that classifies damage and proposes a repair cost. Solves estimate writing. Only as good as the photos it is fed.

Bdeo sits across the third and fourth models with a live option on the side: photo self-service without an app, an optional video call with the appraiser, and AI that estimates the cost of the parts. That combination is why so many buyers use it as the reference point, and why the alternatives split so cleanly by model.

One number frames the whole comparison. According to Verisk's 2026 State of Insurance Fraud study, as reported by Beinsure, 99% of insurers say they have already encountered AI-manipulated documents in claims handling, and only 32% are highly confident they can detect a deepfake. Whatever model you choose, "where did this photo come from" is now part of the buying decision. The wider numbers are on our insurance claims statistics page.

Bdeo alternatives at a glance

Two tables, four columns each, because the blog template does not scroll wider tables on a phone. Everything in a competitor row comes from that vendor's own site; "not stated" means their site does not say it.

How I compared them

I'm writing this from the VentaVid side, so read the Venta Capture section as a maker describing their own product. For the other seven I did one thing and one thing only: I read each vendor's own product pages, pricing page, help content and, where they had one, their blog post announcing the feature, and I wrote down what those pages say. Every statement traces to a URL in the sources list for this post.

  • Starting point. I looked for the first sentence on the homepage that says what the product is: a video call tool, an inspector app, a capture link, or an estimation engine.
  • Live or asynchronous. I checked whether an employee has to be on the line while the claimant captures, and whether the site offers the other mode as well.
  • App or account. I searched each site for "app", "download" and "browser" and recorded the exact wording.
  • Evidence integrity. I recorded how each vendor describes what happens to a photo after it arrives: timestamped, geolocated, hashed, sealed, attested, or nothing said.
  • Who it is built for, and price. I used the audiences the vendor names and the prices the vendor publishes. Where no price is public, the table says so.

Nobody at VentaVid has used these products, so there are no ratings, no "what doesn't work" bullets and no claims that a competitor lacks anything. Where a site is silent, the post says "not stated on their site". Review-site scores are not treated as facts anywhere in this post.

What Bdeo is, so the alternatives make sense

Bdeo is a Madrid-based visual intelligence company, founded in 2017, selling to motor insurers, property insurers and fleet operators. Its site describes photo capture from the policyholder's smartphone "without installing any APP", with an optional "video call with the appraiser or expert" for motor claims, and an AI layer that "identifies and weights the damage down to the last pixel" and "estimates the cost of repairing the parts".

On property claims the policyholder uploads damage images and the repair invoice, and the system compares the invoice against usual repair costs and "checks that the location of the claim corresponds to that of the policy". The company states it works with more than 60 companies in 25 countries and names Mutua Madrileña, Zurich Mexico, Zurich Ecuador and Hollard as case studies. Pricing is not published; there is a demo request form.

What the site does not describe is any hashing, seal or external verification of the images themselves. That is not a criticism, it is the shelf Bdeo is on: the value is the estimate and the triage, and the photo is an input.

The 7 Bdeo alternatives

1. Venta Capture

Best for: claims, fleet, rental and property teams who want the person at the loss site to record guided video and photos with no app, no appointment and no adjuster on the line, and who need the result to hold up later.

Venta Capture, VentaVid's guided capture platform, starts from the opposite end of the room from Bdeo. Instead of asking "what does the AI make of these photos", it asks "how do we make sure the right footage arrives the first time, and how do we prove it has not been touched since". Your team builds the steps, the order and the questions into a flow; the claimant, tenant or driver opens a secure, personal capture link on their phone and follows them.

  • Starting point: guided video and photo capture by link. Video and photos in one flow, an instruction overlay while the camera runs, conditional questions, spoken explanations transcribed and searchable in the case file. Runs in the mobile browser in 15 languages.
  • Live or asynchronous: asynchronous by design. Send the link now, the claimant captures when it suits them, your handler reviews when ready. Nobody schedules a call to look at a bumper. If a case does need an expert, that is a separate decision, not the default.
  • App or account: neither. The landing page literally says "No app. No account. Just film." Opened on a desktop, it shows a QR code to continue on the phone, because the recording has to happen on the device that is standing next to the damage.
  • Evidence, as we describe it: each submission carries a signed digital seal with a SHA-256 fingerprint, a server-verified receipt time, a session timeline of what happened in the browser, and a downloadable manifest a third party can verify without logging in. Photos taken in the session are labelled as such; a file pulled from the gallery is labelled "Provenance: Not verified" and checked on metadata, signs of AI editing and whether it already exists on the internet. Signals are shown with their caveats, and a person decides. The full remote claim inspection page lists the control points.
  • Built for: insurers and TPAs of any size, claims organisations, fleet and rental operators, dealership service teams, property managers. The same flow builder carries property check-ins and damage reports and vehicle appraisals and handovers.
  • Where it lands: a shared inbox with statuses, assignment, escalation and one-click retake requests, view links for colleagues without a login, and workflow rules, a REST API and webhooks to push a case into your claims platform or CRM.
  • Public pricing: a free plan with no credit card, and you can be live in about 10 minutes with a standard flow. Paid plan amounts are not published; the product page and a demo cover them.

When you'd pick it: you are tired of "send us some photos" and you want the evidence step itself to be guided, sealed and reviewable at your own pace. Where it is not the fit: if you need an automated repair-cost figure out of the box, Venta Capture does not estimate. It collects, seals and routes; the estimate stays with your engineer, your estimatics system or an AI vendor you feed through the API.

2. Tractable

Best for: insurers whose bottleneck is estimate writing and claim review on motor collision damage, and who already have a photo intake they trust.

Tractable describes itself as AI-powered damage assessment for vehicles and properties, with pixel-level image analysis and a certainty score per assessment. Its insurer page talks about capturing FNOL photos, an "AI-generated Preliminary Estimate" that will "automatically pre-fill repair cost estimates", and "AI-Powered Fraud Detection" during claim review.

  • Starting point: the estimate, not the capture. Tractable sells to insurers, repairers, recyclers, dealerships and fleets, and positions around cycle time and estimate accuracy.
  • Live or asynchronous: not stated on their site.
  • App or account for the claimant: not stated on their site. The insurer page describes desktop and API integration "with FNOL, estimatics, and claim review systems" rather than a claimant-facing capture flow.
  • Evidence, in their words: "Detect potential errors or fraud with AI-driven claim review." Hashing, timestamps or sealing of the incoming photos are not stated on their site. (Their separate LumaScanner hardware product, a drive-through camera arch, produces what they call a "timestamped, photo-backed condition report".)
  • Built for: enterprise insurers; Admiral Seguros and Aviva are the case studies on the insurer page, with claims of an 8-day cycle-time reduction and 70% of claims reviewed without human involvement. Those are Tractable's own figures.
  • Public pricing: not published.

When you'd pick it: your photos already arrive in acceptable shape and the expensive part of your process is the human writing the estimate. Tractable is the most direct AI-estimation alternative to Bdeo on this list, and its site says the least about how the photos get collected.

3. SightCall

Best for: large insurers and field-service organisations that want live, expert-led video sessions as the core, with an asynchronous option for claimants who cannot be online at the same time.

SightCall is a remote visual support platform: an agent or adjuster joins the customer on a live HD video call with AR annotations and screen sharing. For insurance, the site describes "real-time remote assessments using secure HD video, geolocation data, and AI-assisted evidence capture", and names Allianz, AXA France, Generali, Sedgwick and Chubb among its customers.

  • Starting point: live remote support. The asynchronous piece, SightCall Snap, was announced on their blog in April 2026 for exactly the case where "a live video session may not be practical".
  • Live or asynchronous: both. With Snap, "a claims handler sends the claimant a Snap invitation" and "clicking the link automatically launches the Snap experience"; custom guidance can be configured per scenario.
  • App or account: the Snap post describes a link launching a mobile-friendly experience; whether an app is ever required is not stated explicitly on their site.
  • Evidence, in their words: Snap content is "secured, timestamped, and geolocated to help reduce fraud risk", lands in the SightCall Console, and "can also be uploaded to the claims management system or accessed through API". Hashing or external verification is not stated on their site.
  • Built for: enterprise. Named integrations include Guidewire, ServiceNow and Microsoft Dynamics 365. Allianz is quoted as resolving roughly 30% of claims remotely with it; the 69% reduction in claims handling time is SightCall's own figure.
  • Public pricing: not published.

When you'd pick it: your adjusters need to be on the call, guiding the camera with a pointer, and you have the contact-centre and integration budget to match. If you would rather not schedule a call at all, the asynchronous option is a feature of SightCall rather than its starting point, which is the mirror image of Venta Capture.

4. MotionsCloud

Best for: motor and property insurers in Europe and Asia who want an AR-guided web capture in their own branding, with an AI pre-assessment on top.

MotionsCloud describes AI damage assessment for "vehicles, property & baggage". The capture side is a "mobile web app without installing an app on the phone", delivered by SMS or email link, with augmented-reality guidance so the claimant captures "in best angle, focus, distance, and view". It carries the insurer's own branding (their site calls this white labeled).

  • Starting point: guided capture and pre-assessment together. The AI "pre-scans the pictures and generates a pre-assessment report" with damage type and severity and a confidence percentage, and can "estimate repair costs using enterprise-provided data".
  • Live or asynchronous: both. The self-serve web app is asynchronous; a separate "Video Inspection Mobile Web App" lets the claim manager enable a video call with AR drawing and a recorded session.
  • App or account: no app, per their site.
  • Evidence, in their words: not stated on their site. The product pages describe capture guidance and AI analysis, not timestamps, hashing or provenance.
  • Built for: insurers and fleets; Generali, Net Insurance and Wüstenrot are named on the homepage; ">75%" processing-cost reduction and decisions "in less than 5 mins" are their own figures.
  • Public pricing: not published.

When you'd pick it: you want something closest to Bdeo's shape (self-serve photos plus AI estimate, optional call) from a different vendor, and AR framing help matters to you. If the question you keep getting from legal or SIU is "can we prove this photo", the site does not answer it, so ask on the demo.

5. Livegenic

Best for: US and international P&C insurers, TPAs and MGAs who want guided policyholder capture and live virtual inspection inside one claims-focused platform.

Livegenic describes "AI-powered evidence capture, virtual assessment, and automated compliance", with "structured claims data from FNOL to resolution". Policyholders "capture guided photos, video, audio explanations, and structured responses"; if more is needed, "claims handlers initiate a virtual inspection", a live interaction without site attendance.

  • Starting point: claims workflow, with capture and live inspection as two stages of it.
  • Live or asynchronous: both, in their words "video-first inspections, live or offline".
  • App or account: their FAQ raises "Does the policyholder need to download an app?" but the answer was not readable on the pages I could fetch, so this is not confirmed on their site either way.
  • Evidence, in their words: not stated on the pages read. The site talks about compliance and structured data rather than photo provenance.
  • Built for: insurers, TPAs and MGAs, plus insurance builders and adjusters. The Hartford, Assurant, CSAA and Generali are named; "55+ enterprise clients" and "1M+ claims" are their own figures. Guidewire integration is an FAQ topic.
  • Public pricing: not published.

When you'd pick it: you want a claims-native platform that starts with the desk adjuster's workflow and adds capture and live video as tools inside it, and you are large enough to be onboarded as an enterprise account.

6. Virtual Inspection Pro

Best for: lenders, inspection firms and mid-sized insurers who want self-serve capture with a live escalation route, strong provenance claims and a published price.

Virtual Inspection Pro's site says customers "join from an email or text invitation, no app to download", and works offline. It offers live video inspections with "live pointer guidance with remote zoom and flashlight control" alongside the self-guided flow, plus automatic defect detection with risk scoring and AI-written summaries.

  • Starting point: self-serve and live in one subscription, aimed at real estate, building inspections, insurance, lending, equipment finance, auto warranty and product recall.
  • Live or asynchronous: both.
  • App or account: no app, per their site.
  • Evidence, in their words: the most detailed provenance language on this list. "Each accepted asset is cryptographically sealed with provenance you can hand to a court" (C2PA), "every frame is anchored to an independent time source", device attestation via Play Integrity and App Attest, geospoofing detection, and "screenshots, re-photographed screens and replayed images are rejected".
  • Built for: small and mid-sized teams as well as enterprise; your own branding and SSO sit in the Enterprise tier.
  • Public pricing: Pro at $149 a month for 50 sessions, Growth at $499 for 200, Scale at $999 for 500, Enterprise custom above 750; 14-day free trial on all plans.

When you'd pick it: C2PA and device attestation are on your requirements list and you want a live route in the same product. It is closer to Venta Capture than anything else here on the "link, no app, provenance" axis; the difference is that Venta Capture does not try to put an inspector on the camera at all, and starts from a free plan rather than a trial.

7. Truepic Vision

Best for: insurers and lenders whose first question is "is this image real", with the budget of a fraud-prevention line item.

Truepic Vision is a verified inspection platform. "Your customers submit inspection photos and videos from an email or text invitation", either through a branded mobile app or a mobile browser, your choice, and the flow guides them with example photos, real-time framing tips, conditional logic and short questions.

  • Starting point: authenticity. Truepic runs what it calls over 50 fraud tests, including location verification, picture-of-a-picture detection and device intelligence across its Risk Network, and holds 26 patents.
  • Live or asynchronous: asynchronous. A live video mode is not described on their site.
  • App or account: branded app or mobile browser, as the insurer chooses; it can also be embedded in your own app.
  • Evidence, in their words: location authentic, time and date accurate, device integrity, signs of manipulation. Results feed a dashboard that routes "missing, conflicting, or low-confidence details to your team for closer review", with API to CRM or LOS.
  • Built for: insurance, business and construction lending, auto warranty, equipment financing, product recall. The US Department of State, Microsoft, Equifax and Ford appear as logos; "100M+ verified photos and videos" and "80%+ completion rate" are their own figures.
  • Public pricing: Flex from a $1,000 a month minimum plus per-inspection fees, month to month; Standard from $1,450 a month on an annual plan at around $58 per inspection; Enterprise custom.

When you'd pick it: photo authenticity is the whole purchase and the minimum spend is not a problem. Truepic's whole site is organised around "is this real". Venta Capture answers a broader question, "what happened, in what order, and can we show it later", at a price point that a regional insurer or a TPA with three handlers can start on today.

When AI damage estimation is the better fit

Be honest with yourself about which problem you are buying for. If your handlers spend their day writing repair estimates and arguing with body shops about them, an estimation engine (Bdeo, Tractable, MotionsCloud) attacks that directly, and a capture tool alone will not.

A capture platform and an estimation engine are not competing for the same budget line; one sits upstream of the other. Every estimation vendor on this list takes photos as input. The better the photos, the better the estimate, so the capture step is worth buying on its own merits rather than as whatever comes bundled.

Three situations where estimation wins outright:

  • High-volume, low-severity motor: thousands of bumper and door claims a month where a preliminary estimate in seconds changes staffing.
  • Cash settlement at FNOL: if you settle small claims without an inspection, the estimate is the product.
  • Repairer network management: comparing shop estimates against an AI baseline is a review job, not a capture job.

Three situations where capture wins:

  • Disputed or high-severity claims where the question later will be "when was this taken and by whom".
  • Property, contents, rental returns and fleet handovers where there is no parts catalogue to price against and the record itself is the deliverable.
  • Small and mid-sized insurers and TPAs who need the claimant-facing step fixed this quarter, not an enterprise integration next year.

You can also do both. Venta Capture pushes the sealed case, with the answers and the media, to whatever system you name through workflow rules, webhooks and the API. The estimate can come from your engineer or from an engine; the evidence trail is the same either way. Our AI insurance fraud statistics page collects the numbers on why that trail matters more each year.

What asynchronous capture is worth

Use your own numbers; these are example inputs to show the shape of the calculation, not a result any vendor has measured.

Say a regional motor book generates 400 claims a month that need visual evidence. With a scheduled video call, a handler spends about 20 minutes per claim: booking, waiting for the policyholder to pick up, the call itself, and the notes afterwards. That is roughly 133 handler hours a month spent looking at damage in real time.

With a guided, asynchronous submission, the same handler opens a case that already contains the walkaround video, the close-ups, the answers to the conditional questions and a transcript of what the claimant said. Reviewing that takes closer to 6 minutes. Across 400 claims, that is 40 hours, a saving of about 93 handler hours a month, before you count the calls that never connected the first time.

The second effect is the one operations leads notice later. Capture capacity stops being tied to handler availability: 400 claimants can film independently on a Saturday and your team reviews them on Monday. With a live model, 400 sessions means 400 appointments. We wrote up the mechanics of that difference in asynchronous video support and in live video call vs recorded guided video.

Only 7% of anti-fraud professionals told the ACFE and SAS in 2026 that their organisation is more than moderately prepared for AI-driven fraud. Asynchronous capture only helps with that if the record is sealed on arrival, which is why the evidence layer and the workflow layer belong in the same product.

If you want to see the maths on your own claim mix, start a free Venta Capture account and send yourself a test link; the first flow takes about 10 minutes to build.

How to choose

  • Choose Venta Capture if: you want the claimant, tenant or driver to do the capture, guided, on their own phone, with no app and no appointment, and you want a sealed, structured case in a shared inbox that your team can route, retake and hand to your claims system. Any size of insurer, TPA, fleet or property operator; free to start.
  • Choose Bdeo or Tractable if: the repair-cost estimate is the product you are buying and you already have a photo intake, or you are happy to take the vendor's capture flow as it comes.
  • Choose MotionsCloud if: you want a Bdeo-shaped combination (guided web capture plus AI pre-assessment, optional call) in your own branding.
  • Choose SightCall if: your adjusters must be on the call and you have the enterprise integration stack (Guidewire, ServiceNow, Dynamics) to plug into.
  • Choose Livegenic if: you want a claims-native platform for insurers, TPAs and MGAs that includes guided capture and live inspection as stages of one workflow.
  • Choose Virtual Inspection Pro if: C2PA and device attestation are hard requirements and you want self-serve and live in one published-price subscription.
  • Choose Truepic Vision if: photo authenticity at scale is the entire purchase and a four-figure monthly minimum fits the fraud budget.

Whatever you choose, ask every vendor the same five questions from the methodology section and write down the answers next to their URL. Our guide to photo evidence standards for inspections is a good checklist for the evidence column.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Bdeo alternative need the claimant to install an app?

Most of the vendors here say no in their own words: Bdeo, MotionsCloud and Virtual Inspection Pro describe browser capture without a download, and Venta Capture runs entirely in the mobile browser with no app and no account. Truepic lets the insurer choose between a branded app and the browser. For SightCall Snap and Livegenic, the sites read as link-based but do not state it explicitly, so ask.

What is the difference between remote and asynchronous inspection?

Remote means the adjuster does not travel; asynchronous means the adjuster does not have to be online at the same time as the claimant either. A live video call is remote but not asynchronous. A guided link the claimant completes on their own time is both, which is what Venta Capture and the "offline" or "Snap" modes of other vendors mean. Our piece on remote visual assistance vs remote visual inspection goes deeper.

Can Venta Capture estimate repair costs like Bdeo?

No. Venta Capture collects guided video and photos, seals the submission and routes it to your team; it does not price the damage. If you need an automated estimate, keep an estimation engine or your own engineers downstream and feed them the sealed case through the API or webhooks.

How is sealed evidence different from a timestamp?

A timestamp says when a system recorded something; on its own it can be edited or the file can be swapped after the fact. Venta Capture writes a SHA-256 fingerprint of the submission, signs it, logs the session events in order and lets a third party verify the manifest without a login. Change a pixel and the seal breaks. The receipt time proves when we received it, not when the damage happened, and we say so on the case.

Is Venta Capture only for insurers?

No. The same flow builder is used for rental and fleet handovers, property check-in and damage reports, field-service triage and warranty returns. Insurers and TPAs are one reader of this post; anyone who currently says "send us some photos" is the other.

What does Venta Capture cost compared with Bdeo?

Bdeo does not publish prices, and neither do Tractable, SightCall, MotionsCloud or Livegenic; only Virtual Inspection Pro and Truepic show amounts on their sites. Venta Capture has a free plan with no credit card, and paid plan amounts are covered on a demo rather than in this post.
